Do the Locomotion
It was only a matter of time. One brand new Mac and a rainy Sunday equals Ruby on Rails time. So I installed MySql (easy and painless, but I found several articles that are out of date or make it seem harder than it is) and MySqlAdministrator (this seems a little flaky when it comes to creating tables and fields so I’ve been using the command line.) And then the cool part. Locomotive. Download, install and that’s it. It’s all set up and ready to roll. Since Sunday, I’ve been through a couple of tutorials (here and here) to get started. The only thing I’m missing is any sort of IDE. I don’t have TextMate (yet.) I may try RadRails, just need to install Eclipse first.
